The above image is the never-before-seen cover of my upcoming novel Song of Spheres. I’d like to offer my Substack readers early access to this book.
But first, some background. Before I began writing essays for Intellectual Takeout and The Epoch Times, I focused on writing fiction. That was my first passion. In an old journal, I scribbled a knock-off of The Lord of the Rings when I was eight, called The Jewll [Jewel] (I couldn’t spell very well, then), and I’ve been writing stories and novels on and off ever since.
I’ll still be writing essays about the classics, culture, and education, but I’m also excited to announce that I’m relaunching my fiction writing efforts.
I plan to release two novels in the coming months (and likely more after that), both of which I would describe as literary and philosophical adventure novels. Keep reading to learn how you can receive a free digital copy of Song of Spheres, while also helping me launch it successfully.
Technically, Song of Spheres is a re-release of a book I self-published back in 2017 but which is no longer available, called, at that time, The Skystillers. The second novel has never before been published, but I’m going to hold off on saying any more about that one for now.
I have made some revisions and edits to my 2017 novel, commissioned a brand new cover (above), and given it a new title: Song of Spheres, which is a reference to the “musica universalis” or “music of the spheres” that formed a fundamental part of the medieval model of the cosmos.
Here’s a description of the novel:
Sometimes the world isn't ready for the truth...
After a mysterious summons, ex-Air Force pilot Will Leonhardt travels to an obscure observatory in Hawaii. A shadowy group of rogue scientists have chosen him to pilot a flight more dangerous than any he’s flown before. And this one has the potential to change humanity’s understanding of itself and the planet forever. Is the Terra Program, as it’s called, onto a secret of cosmic significance? Or are they merely deluded?
Will’s a sceptic. He accepts the mission to pilot a craft to the moon just so he can escape his own past and future. Yet during the months of intense training, he gets to know the program’s personnel. The chess-playing Dr. Whitfield. The erratic billionaire Anthony Forrest. The beautiful young botanist, Sage Galloway.
And he experiences what he’s never known before: friendship…and even love.
But something’s rotten at the core of the program. A hidden enemy lurks, threatening the mission and the lives of everyone involved. The rocket launches—just a few miles up, everything goes wrong.
Can Will utilize all his training and stoic courage to save the lives of the people he has come to care for and uncover the secret at the heart of the Terra Program...and at the heart of the universe itself?
Song of Spheres is a literary thriller that combines elements of action, mystery, and philosophical inquiry. A compelling story of danger, intrigue, and conspiracy, the novel also explores the implications of what we believe about ourselves and our place in the universe and how scientific questions impact human life.
If this story sounds intriguing to you and you’d like to receive a free digital copy, please consider joining my ARC team (see below for instructions). The ARC team is a group of people who receive an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book before it’s released. If you then feel like writing a review when the book launches, that’s great, and very helpful to me. This is important for the book launch because people simply don’t buy books that have no reviews or ratings (or at least they buy very few). But you’re certainly not required to leave a review.
The eBook version of the novel will most likely be available for free, at least for a period of time, after its release, but this is your opportunity to get it right now, prior to release, and potentially assist me with the book launch at the same time. Your support means a lot.
I will also provide you with the first two chapters of my second upcoming novel (I’m keeping the title and the cover under wraps for now), which you can’t get anywhere else at present.
If you’d like to be an advance reader and get your free copy of Song of Spheres now + a sneak peak at another novel, please email me at walker@walkerlarsonwriting.com with the subject line “ARC.”
PLEASE NOTE: I’ll keep posts about my fiction writing to a minimum on this Substack, since that’s not what you signed up to hear about. But if you’re interested in my fiction and receiving updates on my future novels (or joining my ARC team), please head over to my separate fiction writing mailing list and subscribe, here: subscribepage.io/lUz738.
Thanks.
