Interview on "Everything is Somewhere": Architecture, Spirituality, and Technology
My recent appearance on Angus Stocking's show
Recently, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Mr. Angus Stocking on The American Surveyor’s podcast “Everything is Somewhere.” The podcast deals with geospatial technology, location, and the built world and examines how maps, satellites, and physical spaces shape civilization.
The launching point for the conversation was my recent article “A Case for Beauty in Our Cities,” in which I deplore the ugliness of Bauhaus and Brutalist architecture and argue that architecture and city planning should speak to man’s aesthetic sense and spiritual nature. Our physical environment shapes and is shaped by our philosophy of the human person—and a proper one will acknowledge the importance of beauty for the human soul. In the episode, we talk about this and related ideas, as well as technology, AI, and spirituality.
You can listen to the full episode below. If you prefer to read the conversation, you’ll find the link to the transcript at the bottom of the post.

This is quite interesting Walker! I will listen soon. There is a philosophy and the city movement that is quite relevant to your interests here.
