This piece makes me think of a few things.

1. Therese of Liseux and her Little Way; doing the little things in your life with great love and spirt.

2. What a friend recently commented to me about a certain Martin Shaw who says that everyone should be famous for 15 miles. This idea really struck me.

3. A vague memory of something along the lines of "The Case for Cities" that I now can't recall exactly who or what was said. However, it prompts the idea of counterargument to the small town idealism. My own view tends to be biased towards small towns but I'm not convinced cities in themselves are a bad thing.
